Novel Project – The Slave Dancer
Alexander Pitches
I was walking in the silent night,
The moonlight; it was strong.
When suddenly, I was snatched and bound,
My God, it was all wrong.
To a ship I was brought against my will,
By the ship crew; I was struck.
I was told I would be there for long,
My God, I had no luck.
On the ship I learned my filthy chores,
X; he helped me.
He treated me good, was nice and fun.
My God, a friend at sea.
But something about him was troubling,
One day; disturbance among the crew.
Another man I like was framed for stealing,
And my God, I knew by who.
Purvis, the man, whom I use to fear,
Was whipped until he bled.
X, my former friend was guilty of all,
My God, it was him I dread.
I learned the purpose of this trip,
We were shipping the blacks.
They were stocked in the lower deck,
My God, they lay in stacks.
I saw some horrid things on deck,
Pain, sorrow and grief.
I played my flute to make them dance,
My God, I was a relief.
A number of blacks, they died sick,
And one in the crew as well.
The fear was spreading among us all,
My God, I wanted to yell.
The fear it drove most people insane,
One black; by first mate, slaughtered was.
For loss of profit first mate was corrected,
My God, he was received by Hell’s paws.
Declaration of Independence
When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary to dissolve the ties that bind the mother from her children.
I hold in these truths to be self-evident: that all sons and daughters should be treated equally and fairly, with mutual respect by their mothers.
A life, not consisting of forced entertainment and nutrition. A life, not consisting of forced labor.
A life, not consisting of respect between family members.
I believe in a life, which consists of independence and respect.
She has deprived me of an independent life.
She has lowered my self-esteem and value by letting me handle filth and dirt (garbage).
She has deprived me of the right of free speech.
She has altered my appearance, by enforcing dress-codes and haircut-codes.
She has deprived me of the freedom of choice, by making me unwillingly wear different kinds of clothes.
She has accused me of false deeds.
She has taken my right and joy of interacting with people in my natural state (naked).
She has forced me to forget and not appreciate the joy of food by keeping my stomach contempt at all times.
She has made me doubt my own personal strengths and personality, lowered my self-esteem by helping me finish my homework.
She has forced me in to labor, by torturing my five senses with regular viewing of Ricky Lake, Paradise Hotel and Dr. Phil.

However, the country still relies heavily on it’s oil related income.

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, teachers and faculty members, parents and friends, and of course, the graduating class of 2009, I bid you all a warm welcome to the 2009 Garrett High School Graduation Ceremony. My name is Alexander Pitches and I have been an exchange student at GHS the past school year.
We have all gathered here today to witness the union of two important events. The congratulations and celebrations of successfully completing your high school careers, and the start of a new adventurous journey, which will lead all of you on to greater things.
You have all worked extremely hard to achieve this goal. Haven’t we all endured the savage ferocity of Mrs. Walls’ vocabulary quizzes, the vicious menace of Mr. Pressler’s television set, and the wrathful vengeance of Mr. Frickey’s BFS program. We might have all thought that the teachers and principals are evil ghouls, who wish to prey on young innocent Seniors, but the reality is far from it. During my year here at Garrett High School, I have noticed through my carefully planned observations that the teachers and faculty members are considerate people, who devote their lives to make us reach our full potential and excel in life. As well teaching, the staff here at GHS has provided so much more. Mr. Lobsiger’s speeches have inspired us all, and filled us with such proudness to be at Garrett High School, the best high school in north east Indiana. I would on behalf of all the senior class like to extend our appreciation and gratitude to the staff, who have all worked their hardest to help us.
But great teachers alone will not achieve great results. This Senior class has so much potential to go far and reach the peak of the mountain of Life. There are so many different and interesting, as well as memorable characters in this crowd before me. Who is not able to recall Madison Diedrich urge her teammates on during a sporting event, or seeing Courtney Wisel the hardest of questions with the simplest of ease? Who is not able to recall hearing Clint Custer’s frequent catchphrase “Excuse me”, or recall hearing Gavin Wisel talk about his “big guns”?
As I look out over this group, I see a massive difference in personalities. Personalities that have grown together into a family.
